What will be the future after doing PhD in structural geology from IITB-Monash Research Academy?

I done my masters from IIT Bombay in Applied Geology. I was very much interested to join Oil industry as it gives lots of money and high quality of life(main aim of my life is to make money). But somehow I did not get a job in oil industry though I was the most outstanding student of my batch. Now joined as a Research Scholar(something is better than nothing) and my topic is Geological and Contemporary Deformation(high precision GPS application) in the Internal Thrust Sheets of the Higher Darjiling-Sikkim Himalaya. Kindly suggest me what will be my opportunities/position after doing PhD....will i be able to lead a good life and can make money or I have to end up with middle class lifestyle........

There are two career paths basically after phD, 1) You can go for post-doc in very good international institute. Later you can join some well reputed research institute or university and carry on your research 2)You can join private sector.
