Gaurav , you are young and such confusion are common . First thing i will tell you that engineers can also be businessmen. Narayana Murthy who is the co founder of Infosys is actually an engineer. The same goes for Nandan Nilekani who is the co founder of Infosys . So you can do B.TECH . You can start your own company after doing B.TECH or after few year of work experience. It all depend upon on your capability . Complete your studies as per your interest and then see you want to start your own father business or start your own . If you think you are lacking in business knowledge then you can do MBA after that. There are also MBA in family business . So it can be useful in expanding your own business . I also suggest whenever you get time try to see , interact with people in your father business, interact with your own father ,observe the things happening there. It will help you deciding that you want to be part of your father business or you want to start something of your own besides giving you practical information of how business is conducted . But don't do all these at your study time. Try to take out extra time for these . Complete your studies and then decide what you want to do . Feel free to ask further question .
