Sahil there is nothing like this course is better than that. It is important that you are confident about your selection of course, ready to do hard work, have interest and also have ability. To make career in statistics you need to study further after B.SC. You might get some job but if you really want to excel then master is minimum qualification. In the field of statistics you have job opportunities as Survey statisticians,Government Operations,Scientific Research,Business ( for prediction of demand or maintaing assets, liabilities),checking the quality of items manufactured in a facility, marketing. ,collect and analyse sports data ,establishing the cause of disease or the factors associated with disease and death ,evaluation of treatment methods and effectiveness of medicines e.t.c
Indian Statistical Service (ISS)- You can also make career in govt. services. Every year the UPSC conducts an All India Level Competitive Examination to fill vacancies in the Indian Statistical Service (ISS). For ISS, Masters degree with Statistics or Mathematical Statistics or Applied Statistics from a recognised university is essential
In general you must be good with collecting datas, analysing them, logical reasoning, good with computers e.t.c
The other reputed organizations employing statisticians include Planning Commission, the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), Institute Of Applied Manpower Research (IAMR), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), statistical and economic bureaus, institutions associated with soci-economic research, banks and public-sector undertakings.
Look if you are interested then do B.Stats. Even a B.COM student need to go for master course or other qualification like CA, CS, ICWA e.t.c for better career. So find your interest. Most of the course like MBA, CA, CS, ICWA done by B.COM student is also open for you.Indian statistical institute is good institute. You also have other options. Feel free to ask further question.
