» An Indian graduate in any discipline, between 21-28 years of age is eligible to sit for the Civil Services Examination.

» Entry into the civil services is through the All India Competitive Exam for the Civil Services conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in different centers spread all over the country.

» The UPSC conducts the  Exam in three phases and the entire cycle completes over a year.
 - preliminary exam, 
 - mains 
 -  interview or personality test
.

» Those who are at the top of the merit list get IAS, IPS, IFS and so on and so forth.

» Entry into the State Civil Services is through a competitive examination conducted by every state public service commission.
