Electronics Engineering -  Of Satellites & Cellphones !!

1+1=1 No, this is not math. This is electronics calculation and you don’t have to be good at math to solve these.
The cell phone you proudly flaunts or the Computer you are using at the moment are all wonders all electronic engineering
This probably is one of the most interesting disciplines of engineering education which promises vast opportunities in future.Be it a television, a refrigerator, a computer or a satellite everything requires an electronic engineer. Kevin rose once said “I don’t care what it is, when it has an LCD screen, it makes it better.” Well, only an electronic engineer would understand that!

Would this career suit me ??

If you have a genuine interest and fascination towards technology, you are already half-way there. Some of the traits that can help u become an electronic professional are:

  • Good affinity towards technology and electronics.
  • A genuine ability and liking to program
  • Hard working
  • If you are innovative and come up with unique solution for even a simple problem.
  • If you have a strong will power and a “never say die” attitude to meet deadlines.
  • Need to be a constant learner as this field is ever evolving.

Where will I work ??

As an electronic professional opportunities are:

  • To work with semiconductor companies like Intel,Toshiba,Samsung,AMD etc
  • As an electronic engineer on will work in fields of VLSI which is divided in frontend & Backend
  • One can Work in frontend includes coding and testing of design on tools as a design or verification engineer.
  • Can also work as backend professional who deals with timing related issues in a design.
  • One can work with EDA comapnies like Cadence, Magma,Synopsis etc. These develop tools to cater to semiconductor industries to carry their design process.

How do I pursue this career ??

» To get an entry-level engineering job, one usually needs a bachelor's degree in engineering. . The career chronology to be a eectronics engineer is :

» The minimum eligibility required to get admission in Bachelors in civil engineering  is 10+2 with good marks.

» The course requirements in 10+2 are Physics, Chemistry and Math.

»    The 10+2 mark cutoffs for admissions are different for different institutes. Ex: BITS-Pilani ( min 80%) IIT ( 60%)

»  Opportunities lies in going further for higher studies for Masters and Ph.D

»  At the Masters level, one can opt for specialized subjects like VLSI, Digital Electronics etc.

»  To take admissions in premier national institutes competitive exams are held every year BITSAT, IIT-JEE , AIEEE

»  State wide entrance exams are also held to take admission in regional engineering colleges.
