Have you ever wondered why Nokia's N-70 series have better battery life than any other phone...that’s where challenge lies with VLSI engineers!!  ”

Very-large-scale integration (VLSI) is the process of creating integrated circuits by combining thousands of transistor-based circuits into a single chip. From designing the brain (processors) of the computers and the stuff that makes your iPod groove to even video decoders for your personal set top boxes on your television sets. Everything that touches your life in some way or other has been designed and created and upgraded by a VLSI engineer.
All that’s now left to do is to work and achieve the right education and qualifications. Good luck on your journey to be a true GIZMO GOD.

  • To work with semiconductor companies like Intel,Toshiba,Samsung,AMD etc
  • Activity in VLSI can be divided in frontend and backend so one can choose which domain to work.
  • One can Work in frontend which includes coding and testing of design on tools as a design or verification engineer.
  • Can also work as backend professional who deals with timing related issues in a design.
  • One can work with EDA comapnies like Cadence, Magma,Synopsis etc. These develop tools to cater to semiconductor industries to carry their design process.

How do I pursue this career ??

» To pursue a carerr in VLSI you should pass 10+2 in Maths, Physics and Chemistry with good percentage.

»  A bachelors degree in engineering (electronics, tele communications ) is entry door  to this occupation.

» A good knowledge about digital and analog networks and components is must  which is usually covered in engineering course.

» Need to have good knowledge in programming language like verilog, c, c++.

» It’s always advisable to go for training and even industry prefers students who already have internship in this domain
