Share on Facebook It was a pleasure for the MCG team to visit Marigold Public School on 8 of Dec. We were invited to discuss with the students the importance of passion and interest in choosing one's career.
The students there were enthusiastic about understanding the role of career decision. They were brimming with questions about various career opportunities. It was our pleasure to have their doubts clear.
We also thank Marigold Public School for recognising the significance of career education.

For quite a while we have been thinking about ways to make students realize the importance of career choice and passion that should accompany it. After racking our brains for days, it suddenly struck us that running a contest that will talk about people who made it big in life because they followed their passion is the best suited method. And immediately came to mind the name Dream Catchers... And since then, the MCG team, is all excited about the contest.... devising.....designing......quiz. Which celebrity to chose....what questions to make...and of course what prizes to give...all had to been decided in favor of contestants, especially students.
While our part of work almost over, your part begins now- to take part and see how career can be satisfying if it is chosen with passion. So go ahead, read about why your role models are what they are and, yeah, do win lots of prizes! True that we don't really are a big company with big money; but once in a while we don't mind going on gifting spree, especially if it for you guys :)

Why Career Counseling ??

|
Well there is the age old dilemma every child has to go through when he/she passes out of 10th class. What subjects do I choose? Which field should I enter? Often children are forced to choose a stream for its career viability and job security and of course the all important social status. While some of the blame is certainly attached to the parents, teachers and the society in general, the fact that children themselves have no one to turn to when it comes to helping them decide. This is where the profession of Career Counselling comes into picture.
Career Counselling may sound an overhyped and overstated profession that uses a lot of heuristics and statistics in equal levels to determine what a student "can do" or "must do" but when practised properly it can really make the choice for children much more comfortable. True counselling isn’t so much about "telling" the children "what to do" as it is about "helping" them decide. Career counsellors may not help in changing social stigma but can definitely help in alleviating any stigma within the students who wish to follow unorthodox or non academic professions.
The Career counsellor today can open these paths for the flummoxed youth and make them truly goal oriented. While Robert Frost may have written about the Road not taken, Career Counsellors can help students actually take the lesser travelled roads to success. In today’s world it’s not the orthodox that are successful, but the creative and the innovative who take unorthodox paths and come up with novel ideas.
Clearly, the time has never been much more apt for the birth of a Career Counselling revolution in India. If India does indeed wish to achieve Mission 2020, it will need youngsters who are striding along new unexplored paths with vigour and confidence that was never present before. Career Counselling can give this to the youngsters. |

Few days back I watched this movie 3 idiots, I had a mindset that movie would be a regular college masti - where there is love, romance, friends and all masala to make it a perfect bollywood flick but oh! How wrong I was.
The movie turned out to be one of the most serious topics.A topic which is so close to my heart and a subject which I am trying to make a living off!
The concept of MeraCareerGuide.Com is no different from what Rancho( Amir Khan) kept on telling in the movie to his friend " Take up a job that you love and you will never have to work a single day of your life"
In the movie when Farhan opts out of engineering and take up wild life photography, one must hear him convince his father- "Main bana bhi to bahaut bura engineer banoonga, Wild life photographer ban ke main khush to rahoonga, Jo bhi karoonga aapke liye dil se karoonga." And gracious! what a succesful photgrapher he becomes; with several publications to his credit. So what was the key to his success - He did what he loved.
I am sure 90% of us have a hidden passion like Farhan. A dream we dreamt of but eventually family, money, peer prssure and oh, the race....all defated the passion. And from then begins a walk to office everyday to get the month end cheque.
The movie took me back in time, to those 16 yrs of education and a short stint with a highly reputetd MNC. How I ended up becoming an engineer is something still remains mysterious to me. I always knew I have a non-scientific tempramenet and dreamt about myself of someone like Barkha Dutt handling a debate show or some one like J.K.Rowling wondering over a good plot of book. At times I imagined myself to be politically active and at times a social worker. I also dreamt of being someone like M.F.Hussain with a brush and colors around...But engineer??...naah, never imagined that in the wildest of my dreams.
I still get embarassed when someone identifies me as one of the state topper's of Andhra Pradesh. Taking up Electrical and Electronics Engineering came by chance and not by choice as one of the most reputed colleges of India opened its doors for me.How could I say no !!
I am glad we are getting to watch 3 Idiots. Even gald that MeraCareerGuide.Com is on the same lines. I am sure Indian Audience ( Parents +Students) would see the movie as much beyond the 3 hrs entertainment.
Today I am also happy that I am following my heart- I am an engineer by chance but an edu-preneur by choice and I am doing my bit to add to this education system and for all those people who doesnot have a friend like Rancho to guide them, here's MeraCareerGuide.com!!
Come. Let's get educationally smart.
