Hi Akshita,

Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE 2010) makes students eligible to apply to recognised colleges in Delhi, which lay 70 percent weightage on CATE score and 30 percent on performance in 10+2, for English (Honours) programme admissions.

This exam deals with your command on grammar portion.Apart from that you need to have a good vocabulary. if you are strong in both these fields you should try practicing few english exams papers.

But I am sorry to say that, for this year the exam is over.

Since cate started in the year 2009 therefore you will not be able to get past year papers as a much needed help.

All the Best!

Dear Sid,

There are many choices in IAS and PCS with ME subject. These are Psychology,Sociology,Philosophy,Agriculture,Mathematics,Physics,Chemistry,Statistics,Economics,Botany etc.You can choose your subject from them. But since you are a student of Mechanical Engineering then it should be better for you to take the Science subjects like Physics,Mathematics or Chemistry, because already you have knowledge of these.

The main written test is a very tough exam.It comprises 9 papers in all.So you have to work hard.

Write me back for further discussion.

All the Best

Dear Ronny,

Punjab Technical University is a good university. But all the courses offered here are for distance learning. It does not provide regular courses.
They provide MCA but that is only through distance learning and that is jointly approved by AICTE-DEC-UGC.

If you want to do MCA through distance education then this college is good one.But if your choice is regular MCA then take admission in some other college.

All the Best

Hello Harsh,

It is absolutely fine to do a B.com with CA. You can go about doing the two at the same time if you are able to manage both of them together. Many people do the same also.

Best Wishes!

Hi Namita !!!
Before talking about the best option between PAU & Thapar University, I hope that you have researched well about the various career options open for you after completing degree in MSc Chemistry. If not, I would want to brief you about some of those options.
1) Teaching:
a) Teaching is a good option after getting postgraduate degree in basic sciences like chemistry. Private institutes preparing students for IIT/MBBS entrances hire students with PG degree at starting salary of Rs 15000- 25000.
b) There are lots of colleges who are offering jobs to fresh graduates (if you clear net it will be added advantage)
c) Govt jobs are also there but that needs extra degree of B.Ed.
2) Pharmaceutical companies are also a option if you are good in analysis and have a good practical hand.
3) Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) also hires MSc chemistry for different positions. So you keep yourself updated on that front.
4) Paint industry is another domain which offers opportunities for you.
5) Research: If you are interested in research you have two options.
a) Firstly, you can prepare for NET-JRF and apply for different IIT and many other good institutions like IISERS,IITs,CSIR labs.
b) You can appear for GRE and apply for different universities in abroad.
NOW coming to your question which one is better:- PAU or Thapar??
PAU is government institution and has a well established Department of Chemistry since 1965 . I think you will get more exposure in terms of faculty and research. One important point for consideration (may or may not be in your case) is that fees structure will be more reasonable in this institution. You can research and talk to the students of the institution for more information.
Follow the link:- http://web.pau.edu/cobsh/index.php?_act=manageDepartments&DO=viewDepartment&intLinkID=3
On the other hand in Thapar university, I could not find any department for chemistry.
