I assume that you want to know the scope of electrical engineer in merchant navy.The main position for which you can apply for:

Marine Engineers: Marine Engineers have the complete responsibility of the ship’s engine room. The main personnel in this department is the Ship engineer/chief engineer who ensures safe and economic running of all engines, boilers, electrical, refrigerating and sanitary equipment, deck machinery and steam connections aboard the ship. He supervises the work of the engine-room crew and is assisted in his duties by the Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Engineers and other junior personnel.

Second engineer looks after the day to day work in the engine room. Third engineer is in charge of the main engine, spare parts for the main engine, all purifiers, boilers, compressors etc. Fourth and fifth engineers are in charge of the numerous generators onboard ship as well as certain small pumps.

Besides the officers of the navigation and engineering teams most ships have a Radio Officer and an Electrical officer. The Radio Officer is in charge of the radio room and handles the operation of the wireless and transmitting of signals. Electrical Officer is responsible for the functioning and handling of all electrical equipment onboard the vessel. There is another one named seaconny, who ensures that the ship is on course and that the gangway at port is well-guarded.

The starting salary varies between Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 a month. A person gets a variety of benefits such as free food, accommodation, paid leave, two-way free passage and facilities for families. In other words, the salary can be saved totally while one is on ship. The perquisites include bonus, holiday travel and other annual benefits.

After 10th you will have to do 12 with science and then go for Merchant navy entrance exam.Merchant navy syllabus entrance exam includs Maths ,Scienceand English.

Dear Danial peter to join Indian Navy after 12th, the candidates need to apply for the NDA exam .It is the only way for the 12th pass students to join Indian Defense services.
The details of the exam are as follows:

The eligibility to join NDA is as follows:
1) 12th pass with Physics and maths as compulsory subjects
2) Age limits between 16.5 to 19 years
3) Must be a citizen of India
4) Only male candidates are eligible
5) Males should be unmarried.

So if you fulfill the criteria, you can take the test which is held twice a year.

Sabse best hai if u wanna be a officer in a quick n legal way u can do dis diploma in nautical science course duration is 1year n den u have to complete ur studies onboard ship as a cadet that too wid a benefit dat u will get astipend from ur company almost inr 15000 rs aur tujhe sirf 18 mnths sea service  khallas karne ka fir tu eligible hai fg 2nd officer k liye

Students who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) are eligible to join as Deck Cadets and a student holding a bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology Engineering could also join the Merchant navy as a Engine Cadet/ Fifth Engineer/ Junior Engineer. Direct entry Deck Cadets are required to undergo basic pre-sea training arranged by the recruiting company itself and the direct entry Engineering cadets are preferred to do a Pre-sea course of 9 months duration in Marine Engineering conducted by the MERI. For pre sea training i am also giving you some college name. You can also find other colleges on your own .

Since you are pursuing B.Com, make sure that you score a minimum of 60% to be considered eligible for the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
In Indian Navy, having scored 60% marks in your bachelors degree examination, you may join the Logistics department. The minimum eligible age to apply for the same is 19.5 years and the maximum age limit is 25 years.

In Indian Air Force, having scored 60% in B.Com , you will be eligibel to apply for the following branches:
Administrative Branch
Logistics Branch
Accounts Branch

The age limit to apply for any of the branches is between 20-23 years.

So, if you want to join these defense forces, being a commerce graduate, you have to work hard and score very good marks-a minimum of 60% marks.
