Agricultural engineering is the discipline of engineering in agriculture, food and biological systems. Agricultural engineers develop engineering science and technology in the context of agricultural production and processing, and for the management of natural resources. They apply their engineering knowledge and skills to solve problems relating to sustainable agricultural production.

Now coming to the career prospectus of Agricultural engineering :
As an agricultural engineer, you will find job easily in a number of government departments like the irrigation and agricultural department, Dairy Department, and Food Corporation. In addition to this, you can get job in financial institutions and banks too which provide finance to agricultural sector universities or other agricultural education centers.
You can take part in the sales, marketing and servicing of agricultural equipments. You can also work for tube-well borings, irrigation and canal irrigation programs as well as soil conservation projects.
Also you can find job in private sector in companies designing, agro-industrial corporations and manufacturing agricultural machinery. A good number of NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) also have various job for agricultural engineers. You can work as assistant engineers, designers and technical officers.

Agricultural Engineers have bright career prospects. Upon graduating or post-graduating in Agriculture and allied sciences, the options and opportunities of a career are many. State Department of Agriculture recruits Agricultural Engineers as agricultural officers for the development of agriculture in a district. There are also private firms investing money in medicinal crops and plantation crops who generally recruit agricultural engineers. Best way to get into MNC as an IT profesional would be through campus placements.
Where as quite a few walkins also takes place for which you will need to look for employement newspapers and vacancy options.

Most of the MNC's do have cut off criteria but if you know your work well, got some good projects in your resume and have an attitude of learning then you can still get through.

Go for M.TECH degree with specialization in embedded system from reputed engineering institute . A course is good if you are interested in it and ready to work hard to achieve success. There are also diploma courses available to you ( you can do if you are interested ) but you are engineering student completing your B.TECH. So doing M.TECH after that will be useful and add on to your degree. If you don't make it to M.TECH then go for it.... ► Read more
